Coaches
Thank you for signing up to be a coach. We couldn't do this without you. We typically have over 400 kids enrolled in soccer, so a coach's role is incredibly important in ensuring each child has a positive and enriching experience. Your dedication and leadership will make a huge difference in helping them grow both on and off the field. We truly appreciate your commitment and are excited to see the impact you'll have this season!
Coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers who commit for the full season will receive a coupon for the following year. No cash value.
Hey Coaches! Just wanted to remind you that you’re not in this alone. There are plenty of folks on your team who would be happy to help, whether it’s as a co-coach or a team manager. Don’t be afraid to delegate—it’s your best friend! Parents can pitch in with things like getting the nets and setting up the nets, and even bringing snacks (because let’s face it, kids love snacks).
If you’ve got a co-coach or team manager on board, just let us know so we can make sure they have the right permissions in PowerUP to help out with the team. We’re all in this together, and we’ve got your back!"

At our local league soccer club, we focus on creating a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment for all players. We believe soccer should be an enjoyable experience for everyone, regardless of skill level. Our goal isn’t to create blowouts or turn kids into professionals but to foster a love for the game through fun participation and teamwork. While winning is great, it's not our main priority; it's about ensuring every player has the opportunity to improve, make new friends, and feel part of a supportive community. We encourage fairness, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude both on and off the field. After all, even if a team loses every game, what matters most is that the kids are enjoying themselves, learning, and having fun.

Many leagues are starting to experience an increase in concerning behaviour. We are asking all parents to sign the Parent Code of Conduct.
Coaches play a crucial role in fostering a positive and respectful environment for all participants in the game. It is essential that coaches actively ensure that referees and linespersons are treated with dignity, free from any form of bullying or harassment. By setting a strong example of respect and sportsmanship, coaches help create a safe and supportive atmosphere where officials can perform their duties without fear of mistreatment. Together, we can uphold the integrity of the sport and promote fairness for everyone involved.
Below outlines the coaches responsibility to 'Take 5'.
The first time spectator behaviour crosses the acceptable threshold, the referee will pause the game. The Match Official will address the behaviour with the coaches, who will then directly address the team's spectators.
No additional time is added for the warning stoppage.
Play will be restarted according to the Laws of the Game.
The second time spectator behaviour crosses the acceptable threshold, the game is paused for 5 minutes. Once the 5 minutes has elapsed, play is restarted according to the Laws of the Game.
No additional time is added for this stoppage. No activity is allowed on the field during this time.
This is the stage where "Take 5" takes its name.
The third time spectator behaviour crosses the acceptable threshold, the game is abandoned.
The Match Officials will submit the necessary reports to the appropriate Governing Bodies, and if necessary, other authorities.
West Elgin Soccer will not reverse the call of any Match Official. All situations brought to our attention will be used for teaching and educational purposes with our Match Officials.
